Holy Family School Bullying & Aggressive Behavior Policy

Holy Family School is committed to creating a safe, positive, and respectful learning environment for all students. Bullying, harassment, intimidation, or any form of aggressive behavior will not be tolerated.

What is Bullying or Aggressive Behavior?

Bullying or aggressive behavior is:

  • Repeated or serious actions (physical, verbal, or psychological) that harm another student.
  • Actions that create an intimidating, threatening, or abusive environment.
  • Electronic acts (cyberbullying) through phones, computers, or other devices.

Examples include:

  • Name-calling, teasing, or taunting
  • Threats, intimidation, or menacing behavior
  • Stalking or coercion
  • Hazing or exclusion
  • Any electronic harassment

Aggressive behavior doesn’t need to target legally protected characteristics—it’s defined by its negative impact on a student’s well-being.

Reporting Bullying or Aggressive Behavior

If a student or parent believes bullying has occurred:

  1. Report immediately to the Principal.
  2. Reports can also be made to teachers or staff, who will notify the Principal.
  3. All students and staff are encouraged to report any concerns.

Complaints Can Be:

  • Formal: Written reports with names, dates, locations, and witnesses
  • Informal/Anonymous: Verbal reports or anonymous submissions; the school will investigate while respecting confidentiality

Investigation and Action

Once a report is received:

  • The Principal or administrator will investigate promptly

A written report will summarize:

  • Findings
  • Verification of bullying or aggressive behavior
  • Recommended interventions or disciplinary actions

Possible Actions:

  • Remedial strategies to protect the victim
  • Disciplinary action for the perpetrator
  • Referral to law enforcement if necessary

Retaliation is prohibited. Anyone who retaliates against someone reporting bullying may face consequences.

False reports intended to get someone in trouble are also prohibited and may result in disciplinary action.

Notification

Victim’s family: Will be informed of findings and actions taken.

Perpetrator’s family: Will be notified if bullying is verified and any discipline applied.

The school will protect privacy rights for all students involved.
